All That Is Solid Melts Into Air

It’s messy. Confusing.
You want to see clear but it’s difficult. You can only see the little bit that you can see.
You want to find the truth, what’s solid, so you can build on it.
But the ground is always moving.
So you make your best choice, do what you can, try and get by.
Sometimes you fall over. Sometimes you run.
The truth is in the chaos.
You want to see clear but it isn’t.
It’s messy.
That much is clear.

  1. This is the truth that all in the world is impermanent. The permanent is what holds it. It is not in the world. The world is in it. You will not find anything solid to build on in the world, any more than you would in a dream. The solid and unchanging does not need building on, the world is already built upon it and joyfully always falling down, like a child's sandcastles. You cannot serve two masters. There is bound to be a parting of the ways. But one can waste time by denying it for years, falling back into one's old ways. Chaos is a solvent breaking up hidebound conglomerations. People fear it only because they are attached to their delusions. Throw it all to the wind! What is left? In practice, it is hard to hurry or peer behind an eclipse. But recognising it as an eclipse is what stopped many an medieval panic.

  2. That was one of the best things I've read in quite awhile. Also, I'm glad you're back in the blogosphere.
