Must have experience of dealing with the general public.
This was written on a volunteer position I was looking at.
General public.
Hmm. On reflection, all of my career had not been dealing with the general public. I had been dealing with professionals in certain fields and not with the ordinary man on the street.
Jesus, I had no idea what the general public was like.
Who the hell were these people?
Perplexed, I went for a walk -just an ordinary man and part of the general public- while I tried to figure it out.
There's nothing general about the General Public. Each member is uniquely crazed and hell-bent on ensuring you feel their pain. If you've got any chain mail laying around the flat -- use it.
ReplyDeleteThere are some that might argue that you hardly ever mix with the General public. You pre-select so clearly by where you live, the holidays you go on, the wine bars you frequent that you never meet a representative cross section. My advice is to do Jury duty with 11 other good men and true. That normally puts you off the General public for life.
ReplyDeleteI think it was Churchill who said “The best argument against democracy is a five-minute conversation with an average voter.”
ReplyDeleteSo maybe the best argument against the general public is etc.
